germany's next top mermaid...

It's a holiday weekend here in the U.S., which means I'll be eating Bar-B-Que and relaxing lakeside for the long weekend. But before I go, I must leave you with pretty pictures of pretty people doing pretty mermaidy things. These images are from Germany's Next Top Model, hosted by Heidi Klum. Germany is all about mermaids this season, as they also did a shoot with the ladies wearing mermaid tails. I have no idea what this shoot was about or who won, as I don't live in Germany and can't watch this version of Top Model. However, what I do know  is that these pictures are PRETTY, and would make beautiful covers for mermaid romance novels. ;-)

Designer Stephanie Carbone is the brainchild behind Space Mermaid, a Los Angeles-based jewelry company with the most kick-ass name ever. She loves the sea and all its creatures, including the mythical ones like mermaids. Think I’m lying? Stephanie has entire section on mermaid jewelry. Yes, it is like heaven, only better. ania pauser's pendant lamps...

I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw these laser-cut pendant lights by Swedish designer, Ania Pauser. They’re called “Knopp” which means flower bud. Stylized flower petals can often look like fish scales, so you know I’m thinking mermaids and jellyfish and underwater worlds. A girl can dream...  Ania is also a fantastic illustrator. reema and siren sea...

The Wide-Eyed, Legless is coming up to its first year anniversary next month, which has me thinking about what this blog is all about, and how I plan on moving forward with it. I wouldn’t call myself a very a social person when it comes to the Internet. I don’t tweet, barely post on Facebook, and I’m terrible at answering emails in a timely manner. I started this blog because I wanted a home for all the mermaidy things I tend to find in the world, but over the course of a year, it’s really the people I have met—the writers, artists, and musicians—that make it such a pleasure to be a blogger. Reema is a musician and artist based out of Dallas, Texas. She reached out to me to say hi, and I’m so glad she did. Her band, Siren Sea, are super talented. Their music rich, emotional, and as sensual as their name suggests. If you like Florence + The Machine, Sade, or Sting, you’ll probably like Siren Sea as well.Their debut EP is available on itunes now.
